If your books are from the same planet, then technically it counts as one book.

As an Australian, I love the fact that you call a series of 4 books a Qouala 🐨. A natural history of Dragons sounds like such an interesting story.

Great list! You do an amazing job of describing what makes these games so fun! I already had Things in Rings preordered, but you reminded me I need to get Blob Party, and you absolutely sold me on Apothebakery, which I'll be late-pledging, and Last Light, which I hadn't realized played so fast. I'll be picking that one up asap! Thanks for the recommendations!

I have so many books that half of them are in the garage and the shelves in my room are bending under the weight. And that’s not even counting my ebooks.

There are also the second hand stores where you can find books you have never heard about, but that turn out to be great. For instance I bought a copy of "the 13 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear" in my wonderful lokal second hand store some years ago. It is almost impossible to get hold of a norwegian copy of that book. I had never heard of it, but it looked fun. I loved it! And now my grandson (12) has read it six or seven times! And you have the phone booth mini libraries where you can place books you are not going to read again og take other books with you. I don't know if you have them in the US? At least they are common in the UK and in Norway . Even my small town has one. Apart from that I try to use my local book store. They do all they can to get me the books I want. We also have a great library. The problem is that if I borrow a book that I like, I will buy a copy anaway😆

Re: audiobooks not being reading. I don't think they are reading and I'll explain why. It's not about being an asshole (and I'm sorry but the comparison between audiobooks and hearing aides is a little misplaced - yes, they both aid a person in doing something they couldn't do otherwise, but hearing aides are designed to help people process sound when they can't [simplifying it] but audiobooks are not designed to help people see and read words on a page - that is what formats such as braille are designed for), it's about two things: 1. Words matter. Reading is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "the action or skill of reading written or printed matter silently or aloud." The person who is narrating the audiobook is reading, you are listening to it. That does not mean it's a bad thing or invalid, but it is not reading, and it should not be called reading. It should be called listening or consuming or enjoying or anything other than reading. 2. Scientifically speaking, listening only activates *some* of the same centres of the brain as reading. Certain brain centres we use to process words written on a page are not the same as activated when listening. Yes, there are some involved in the processing of words that are the same, but not all. Interestingly, though, the sensory input when reading braille is close to that from reading visually. This will always be a sticking point for me, mostly for #1. That is not to say that I think audiobooks are invalid; I use them to consume books all the time, but I am not READING an audiobook, I am LISTENING to an audiobook; I cannot read something I am processing through my ears. Unfortunately this is not the argument most of the elitist asses are using when they're talking about reading vs. not reading in relation to audiobooks, but words do matter.

I typically have several on the go. I do read more books particularly when listening to an audiobook but sometimes other books do take me longer to read as I'm distracted by other books lol.

When my brain needs something different as a dopamine hit, I'm not compelled to slog through the book I've lost interest in out of a sense of guilt that the books feelings may be hurt. I just jump to another one and return later. My reading pace is faster and I go less time between picking up a book. So yes, I am reading more!
